Profile Ernakulam Branch of SICASA of ICAI
Southern India Chartered Accountants Students’ Association is formed with an objective to see chartered accountancy students as successful achievers. It is the wing of student’s community of ICAI to help mould the CA students as young professionals.
SICASA organises various activities, seminars, Conferences and competitions which creates a platform for the students to learn and develop them. Students’ conventions are regularly organised to induce the knowledge and keep up with the standards required in this global profession. SICASA also helps the students to exchange their views and to develop a sense of team spirit, togetherness and unity among the students. Regional conferences and conventions conducted by the SICASA at various cities act as a hub where students from different parts of the country meet and exchange their ideas , views and knowledge which no textbooks can ever provide.
SICASA moulds the student fraternity and makes a new beginning with renewed vigour to scale new heights of success and new milestones in their pursuit of professional career. Conventions, conferences and study circles enable them to get updated on the happenings in the corporate world. It is also a journey of knowledge and entertainment.
It is one of the objectives of ICAI to help develop the CA’s to be good communicators. Elocution competitions, quiz competitions etc help the students to develop communicating skills. Through these, majority of students are able to step out of their stage fear and inhibitions which enables them to be good communicators.
SICASA newsletters provide a platform for the students to contribute journals and articles which helps to improve their knowledge and also enables them to develop the art of writing into them.
In short SICASA enables the overall development of a student. Losers wait for opportunities, winners create them.
The Ernakulam branch of SICASA was formed in the year 1967 with CA. Venugopal C Govind as its first Chairman. The students wing of Ernakulam Branch has been adjudged as the best branch of SICASA for the past 14 consecutive years. The branch has also been actively engaged in conducting various activities for students like organising coaching classes, workshops, seminars and other events. .
The First Branch of the Southern India Regional Council of ICAI in Kerala, the Ernakulam Branch, was set up on 1st December 1967
It is the largest Branch in the State with more than 1600 members and more than 6000 students. At present it is the 3rd largest branch in South India.
